CFP® Certificants in the News: CFP® Professionals, Job Satisfaction and Demographics

CFP Board Releases 2019 Survey of CFP® Professionals.
CFP Board surveys its Certificants every two years. The 2019 survey canvassed 800 CFP® Professionals and addressed a number of topics, including job satisfaction and key demographic metrics.
Job Satisfaction
CFP Board reported a continued trend of high job satisfaction among CFP® Professionals working as financial planners. According to the survey responses:
93% “are satisfied with their career choice”
92% “are satisfied with their decision to pursue CFP® certification”
89% “would recommend CFP® certification”
Demographic metrics
The report highlights:- Continued growth in total CFP® professionals since 2015,
- Little change in the male to female certificant ratio, and
- An interesting change in age demographics.
Continued Growth
- Almost 10,700 new CFP® certificants were added since the end of 2015.
- CFP® certificants now number 84,356 - an increase of 14.5% from 2015.
Male/Female Ratio
- This ratio has remained constant since the end of 2015.
- There is about one female for every 3 male CFP® certificants.
Age Demographics
- New blood
- 4% increase in certificants from age 24 through 49
- Retirement news
- 3% decrease in the age 50 through 69 demographic
- You’re never too old to help clients!
- 1.5% increase among those certificants age 70 or more
Conclusion
CFP® practitioners overwhelmingly enjoy their financial planning careers and the
CFP® mark is alive, well, and growing!
