CFP Board COVID19 Updates

The most recent CFP Board guidance for those planning to take the CFP Board Exam in 2020 follows:

“MARCH 2020 CFP® EXAM

COVID-19 impacted hundreds of candidates planning to sit for the March 2020 exam. Some early test site closures were announced early in the March 10-17 testing window, followed by a complete shutdown of all North American Prometric testing sites the morning of March 17. All candidates who were unable to sit for the exam due to COVID-19 are being rescheduled for the July exam and will not be charged a postponement fee. For those we have not yet reached, please be assured that you will be contacted and assisted with rescheduling.

As the situation rapidly unfolded during the March testing window, we tried to balance the health and safety of candidates with their desire to complete the exam they have been working so hard toward. We spoke with hundreds of candidates in our efforts to best accommodate them and will continue to reach out to those who were affected with updates and support. We understand the frustration caused by this situation and appreciate the patience and flexibility of our March exam registrants.

JULY 2020 CFP® EXAM

Currently, there are no changes planned for the July 2020 exam administration, with a testing window of July 7-14. If future conditions related to COVID-19 change and affect the timing of the July exam, we intend to be as flexible as possible with all registrants in their rescheduling process and will provide updates on this page in addition to direct communications with registrants.

Registration for the July 2020 CFP® Exam is now open, and we encourage you to register and continue your preparation. Please note that at this time, scheduling your specific exam time and location can only be done using Prometric’s online scheduling option. You may register now and we will update you when additional scheduling options are available.”

Like so many other things in our lives, COVID-19 is no respecter of those reaching for the CFP® Certification.
