Just in case you missed these announcements, be aware that the CFP Board recently announced two significant developments.
The Clock is Ticking: Comment Period Ending — Proposed Revisions to Competency Standards
On December 17, 2024, the CFP Board's Board of Directors sought public comment on proposed changes to the Competency Standards for CFP® certification. These revisions encompass education, experience, examination, and continuing education requirements, aiming to ensure the standards remain modern and relevant for the evolving financial planning profession. The public comment period is open until February 28, 2025. Comment before then or forever hold your peace.
Record Number of CFP® Exam Candidates
In December 2024, the CFP Board reported that 10,437 candidates took the CFP® Certification Exam throughout the year, setting a new annual record. The November 2024 exam alone had 3,755 candidates, with a pass rate of 62%. This milestone reflects the growing demand for CFP® certification as the standard in financial planning.
